A night of celebration as the modern Yiddish/Klezmer avant-folk group Black Ox Orkestar performs for the first time since 2005! Black Ox Orkestar formed from Montréal’s fertile post-punk scene of the early 2000s, featuring members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Thee Silver Mt. Zion and Sackville, releasing two acclaimed and influential albums Ver Tanzt (2004) and Nisht Azoy (2006). After a 15 year hiatus The Music Gallery is proud to present the kick-off of Black Ox Orkestar’s album release tour.

Reunited during the pandemic, Everything Returns is an atmospheric, slightly melancholic album of uniquely modern Jewish folk music. With incisively atmospheric, uniquely modern Jewish diasporic folk music of brooding balladry filtered through the lens of an indie-rock sensibility, the album was exquisitely recorded by Greg Norman (Nina Nastasia, Jason Molina).

Paired up with artist Xicada, a spacey, cerebral, droney solo act by artist Ilyse Krivel, this is the perfect place to be on a cozy December night.
