Interview in What Is: Futurism Series

An interview and book signing of Detroit techno-inspired graphic novel, “The Book of Drexciya”

A project in the works since March 2020, we’re incredibly excited to host author Abu Qadim Haqq alongside Blackhurst Cultural Centre for a talk and book signing of his graphic novel, The Book of Drexciya at It’s Ok* Studios, 468 Queen St W.

Depicting the creative sci-fi origins of the legendary Detroit techno group, Drexciya, the novel depicts a story of resilience through afro/technofuturism. Alongside Abu Qadim Haqq, this talk will be moderated by local musician and technofuturist, R-ODERICK.

Copies of Volumes I and II will be sold and available for signing. This is the first time these novels have ever been sold in Toronto.

Seating for this event is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

RSVPs for this event are now full! A limited number of spots will be available at the door.
