Roulette Intermedium x MG
The Music Gallery, in partnership with Roulette Intermedium, presents a cross-border residency and performance project bridging Toronto and New York’s experimental music communities.
Teaming up with New York’s Roulette we’ve paired two artists tasked with finding a shared voice.
From February 3-7, 2025, Toronto-based artist Allison Cameron and New York-based artist Madeline Stepien (fka pent) will collaborate at The Music Gallery to create a new, experimental electronic work bending the possibilities of spatial acoustics through synthetic means. The residency will bring together Madeline’s electronic practice with Allison’s improvisational found sound and piano, culminating in performances on February 7 in Toronto and February 28 in New York.
Opening the night in Toronto is John Kameel Farah centering his practice of combining piano and organ with synthesizers and effects processing

Artist Bios
Madeline Stepien is a composer and sound artist based in New York City. Her compositions and performances examine phenomena of artificial sound via digitally constructed environments and various modes of synthesis & electroacoustic manipulation. Taking residence at the Music Gallery Toronto with composer & improviser Allison Cameron this February, they embark on a collaborative effort to interrogate the interplay between synthetic and acoustic sound, and how each informs the others framework of perceptual interpretation.
Allison Cameron is an innovative composer, performer, and sound artist whose work spans chamber music of a rich array of styles and instrumentations to improvisation. Her scores have been performed by the likes of Arraymusic, Eve Egoyan, Bang on Can, Apartment House, Contact, Ensemble Supermusique, Lori Freedman, and other key interpreters. Her idiosyncratic and captivating solo performances blend the sounds of various acoustic instruments, found objects, toys, consumer electronics and field recordings.
