Fizzle, Circulate, Emerge

Diffuse

Multimedia , Performance in X Avant XIX: Texture Series

The spinning of a record envelopes our sanctuary space using the all-new multi-channel ATMOS surround system.

For night two of X Avant XIX: TeXture, sounds scatter around and envelop the Music Gallery as Exit Points takes over the space for the launch of their first vinyl record, “You Are The Right Length”, with a 12-channel surround sound listening experience. Recorded performances by 7 Toronto-based improvisation ensembles are diffused live throughout speakers that encircle listeners.

Gayle Young, Zoma, and Michael Palumbo will close out the night with live performances that are also spatialized on the surround sound system. The gallery space will also exhibit Exit Points concert photographs by Mike Filippov, Eugene Huo, Bryanna Reilly, and Stephen Humphrey, and will house a special record shop and vinyl listening booths.

Exit Points is a Toronto-based free-improvisation concert series and record label that brings together listeners and musicians from diverse sonic backgrounds. Each monthly concert creates a unique space for music communities to interact, resulting in one-of-a-kind performances that are later released as records.

LATE ARRIVALS

Audience members are strongly encouraged to arrive before the start of the event. Late arrivals will be seated during the breaks between pieces.

RUSH LINE & NO-SHOW POLICY

Sometimes our shows sell out, and that can be a bummer for folks who didn’t get a ticket. We’ve developed a new ticketing policy that apply to advance ticket holders and those wanting tickets to ensure a fair, transparent process for releasing additional tickets to a sold-out show. Please read our full policy here.

TICKETING

Our new ticket type invites you to Pay What You Can Afford (PWYCA) which means that you can choose an appropriate level and where possible, help to offset community members attending at a discounted rate. Levels are decided by you based upon your income and financial flexibility and are not verified at the door.

ACCESSIBILITY INFO

918 Bathurst is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs (two half-flights to enter the performance space, and one flight to access the washrooms).

We will have ear plugs, sunglasses, and a ‘therapeutic room’ for those that need it. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to matthew@musicgallery.org.

COVID POLICY

We strongly encourage masking at all times. For our full policy, click here

SAFER SPACE

We expect all attendees and community members to respect one another, and to respect the work that was created for you to explore. We will not tolerate harm or harmful behaviour of any kind. View our policy here.
