Concert , Panel , Screening in X Avant XVIII: Neeeerrrrddddssss Series

A night celebrating Indonesian experimental electronic music label, Yes No Wave.

Gamelan music is one of the most complex styles of music the world has to offer. With a rich history and intricate percussive structures, it leaves a lot of room for creativity.

The festival night is dedicated to artists doing it different. A full showcase of label Yes No Wave, takes over the Music Gallery straight from Indonesia for a night of film, talks and music.

Please note, J. “Mo’ong” Santoso Pribadi is unable to perform as a part of this festival.

We have been informed that unfortunately J Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi has been prohibited from traveling as part of their Canadian tour. Another Yes No Wave artist, Wok the Rock, will be featured instead on Friday.

In connection to this disruption to our festival plans, we want to express our ongoing concern regarding systemic failures that primarily and negatively impact racialized artists. The barriers to accessing a travel visa and accompanying support systems to navigate visa applications make it that much harder for certain artists to cross borders, pursue meaningful career opportunities, and share their art.

We are looking forward to celebrating the profound, sublime, and crushing sounds of Yes No Wave on Friday, and we know their team will appreciate the energy of the X Avant crowd.
