Magpie an evening by Sarah Jerrom

Magpie

Concert in Co-presentations 2022-2023 Series

A woman meets a mysterious bird and is transported into a dark, spellbound otherworld. Sarah Jerrom’s Magpie blends sound and visuals, narrating a new fairytale.

Contemporary jazz, dance and video installation intertwine in Magpie, a passion suite for large ensemble created and led by vocalist and composer Sarah Jerrom. Conducted by Christian Overton, Magpie showcases several of Canada’s finest musicians. This world premiere performance features two live dancers (Savannah Neudorf, Nicole Decsey), and live video projections by Yesim Tosuner. Magpie is dedicated to removing the stigma and taboo surrounding pregnancy loss.
