Lea Bertucci & Olivia Block
Electro-acoustic duo of Lea Bertucci and Olivia Block arrive in Toronto for a night of live tape manipulation and experimental synthesis, joined by local sound artist Aida Khorsandi for a solo modular synth immersion.
New York experimental tape manipulator Lea Bertucci teams up with Chicago based Olivia Block for a collaborative set celebrating the release of their new record “I Know the Number of the Sand and the Measure of the Sea” out now on Room40. A haunting oracle of Bertucci’s tape processed vocals and sonically reassembled field recordings swirl in the brooding wind of Block’s synthesizer fractals. Time stretched musique concrete by this pair of magnetic tape mavericks.
Modular synth and experimental sound artist Aida Khorsandi kicks off the night by patching into the cybernetic sewer system of some alternative future. Glitched textures and synthesized gurgles amplify through large piping. Mechanical bleeps & bloops meld with electronic drips, the sonic aftermath of power washing google’s server farm and leaving it to air dry.
