Crossing Canada from West to East, ECM+‘s Generation2018 Canadian tour, conducted by Véronique Lacroix, presents the latest edition of this project in which the Canadian public can vote for its favorite composition.

This will be the tenth time New Music Concerts has presented the Generation project; they have been the Toronto hosts since the very first tour in 2000. The concert is presented in an educational fashion, featuring interviews with each of the four composers prefacing performances of their pieces. The composers themselves have been selected by jury from over 60 applicants and represent the breadth of the country—in this instance BC/QC (James O’Callaghan), ON/AB (Thierry Tidrow), QC (Patrick Giguère), and NB/ON (Sophie Dupuis). Many alumni of the Generation project have gone on to become some of Canada’s most successful composers.
