The shuttle will be departing 918 Bathurst St. at 6 pm, and the return shuttle will depart from Aga Khan Museum at 10 pm, back to 918 Bathurst St.

Of all the projects assembled by Montreal/Cairo-based multi-instrumentalist Sam Shalabi, the large ensemble Land of Kush is the grandest. Veering from large scale free improvisation to intricately written ensemble interplay, Land of Kush combines strings, horns, woodwinds, multiple percussionists, bassists, guitarists, numerous vocalists and electronics with Shalabi’s signature brilliance on oud. Membership of Land of Kush has been a kaleidoscope of Montreal musicians (many associated with Constellation Records) over the years, but this version features two special guests – producer/multi-instrumentalist Maurice Louca and singer/electronic musician Nadah El Shazly  – who have travelled from Cairo especially for this occasion.

The Music Gallery is thrilled to partner with the Aga Khan Museum to present the world premiere of Land Of Kush’s new work Sand Enigma, along with Shalabi playing an opening solo set. The Aga Khan Museum’s concert hall is one of Toronto’s great acoustic spaces and is an ideal venue in which to present this large ensemble. We want to make sure getting to the museum is straightforward, so we’ll be running a shuttle to and from downtown (check our website for updates) before and after the show. Make some time before the show to enjoy the museum, too: the ticket price gives you access to the Museum’s permanent collections. Stick around afterwards, too, for a post-concert meet-and-greet with the artists. This will be a unique, unforgettable evening.
