UPDATED: Intérro + E-Saggila (Chino Amobi cancelled)
The Music Gallery presents
Intérro + E-Saggila
We regret that Chino Amobi will be unable to perform at X Avant tonight due to a sudden illness.
Tonight INTERRO feat Kaie Kellough, Tanya Evanson, Jason Sharp, Kevin Lo will appear at a new time: 9PM.
Joining the lineup at 8PM is E-Saggila, aka Toronto’s mysterious press eschewing underground label-head Rita Mikhael of outsider imprint Summer Isle Records, an artist merging noise and techno who currently reigns over the floor DJing after hours dance clubs when she isn’t creating aural disturbances at DIY noise gigs.
2017 began with E-Saggila’s much lauded EP Tools of my Purpose on Bank Records NYC, followed by newly pressed full length Lux Campaign (Opal Tapes), released this September.

Tonight’s General Admission ticket price will be reduced to $13 at the door. Anyone seeking a refund can email: monica@musicgallery.org (include purchaser name & number of tickets)
A rescheduled Chino Amobi date is TBA.
The most electronic night of this year’s festival, Friday night features messy and furious collages of provocative ingredients with no shortage of bass.
Intérro features artists Jason Sharp (saxophone, sound design), Kaie Kellough (text composition, voice), Kevin Lo (visual design), and Tanya Evanson (voice). First presented as the opening performance of the 2016 Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival in Montréal, Intérro is a crowd-sourced cross-disciplinary performance exploring the perils of border crossings, where the question “what are you doing here?” can speed the pulse when posed at customs, in airports, in offices, while in the streets a person can be profiled, detained, searched, and questioned. Long after these interactions transpire, the questions posed echo in our thoughts and continue to demand answers. Multiple criss-crossing voices pile up over bass-heavy saxophone soundscapes and increasingly frenzied projections to create an unforgettable experience.
