Elizabete Balčus + New Chance + Chiquita Magic

Three avant electronic pop progenitors push the form with new energy for this Departures outing, featuring Latvia’s Elizabete Balčus, along with locals New Chance and Chiquita Magic!

Kicking off our 2022-2023 season is a heavy night of avant pop re-invention featuring Latvia’s Elizabete Balčus, along with locals New Chance and Chiquita Magic in the heart of Riverdale Park at the intimate St. Matthew’s Clubhouse.

Performance artist, musician, engaging eccentric Elizabete Balčus manifests avant psych-pop compositions from haunting electro-acoustic soundscapes, looped flute phrases, siren-esque vocals and cosmic synth textures. Recently signed to Montreal’s Mothland label she lands in Toronto to join two of our own experimental pop masters, leftfield electronic composer, vocalist and storyteller New Chance, and Toronto-based Colombian producer, singer & synth wizard Chiquita Magic.

918 Bathurst, is not currently wheelchair accessible due to stairs (two half-flights to enter the performance space, and one flight to access the washrooms). This event will have projected visuals, includes amplified sound and will not include additional scents
