Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp Departures July 15

Departures

Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp + Sam Shalabi

Concert in Departures Series

Departures returns to the live realm with Swiss minimalist post punk big band Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp and Montreal oud outsider Sam Shalabi!

OTPMD seamlessly sews influences from free jazz, minimalist krautrock, post punk within the big band format. From gracefully heart felt minimalist ballads to ripping avant rock jammers the band flexes its muscles without ever tearing the shirt. Kicking the night off revered oud player, composer, avant trouble-causer Sam Shalabi merges traditional Arabic tendencies with free jazz into a concoction that is both beautiful and biting.
