The third Emergents project of the season welcomes the Women From Space festival as a presenting partner for a 4-set evening of online streams, featuring boundary-pushing improvisers and new collaborative ventures across disciplines.

Hannia, co-founder of Toronto’s vital Tea Base space and poised to release their debut EP Linen & Denim, performs a solo set co-presented with Bricks & Glitter. Dancer Denise Solleza, co-founder/director of Half Second Echo, teams up with trumpeter/composer Madeleine Ertel for a new sound-and-movement collaboration. Poet/emcee Britta B works for the first time with electronic producer Pursuit Grooves as a duo co-presented with Toronto Poetry Slam. And Montreal-based songwriter Thanya Iyer is joined by flutist and regular collaborator Anh Phung for a joyful new recorded set.

This year for their digital edition, Women From Space has created a new option to view each show as a hologram illusion. The Holobox Theatre (www.holoboxtheatre.com), created by the festival team, is a miniature tabletop stage, designed to fit over your laptop, tablet or phone to bring performances to life as holograms.

The third annual edition of Women From Space runs from April 9-11, 2021. Shows are streamed at www.womenfromspace.com, with live post-show events on Facebook
