Open House for d/Deaf Artists

The Music Gallery, Phoenix the Fire, and VibraFusionLab are hosting an open house for d/Deaf artists who are interested in connecting music, sound, and vibration in their practice.

The event is casual, and folks can drop by for any length of time.

The event is free to attend. We encourage you to register through our ticketing platform, Showpass as venue capacity is limited. Message matthew@musicgallery.org with any questions.

More about the program / the organizers are running a special residency program at SASS the week of September 14, and this open house will allow community members to connect with each other, try the adaptive equipment from the residency, and get to know the Music Gallery as it builds new routines to support Deaf Performance.

The available equipment includes haptic or vibrotactile devices such as belts, cushions, flooring, and a multi-channel back cushion.

Venue Information & Accessibility / The open house takes place at Social Art Studio Space (SASS), located in the basement of 180 Shaw Street. The building is accessible through ramp access, powered doors, an elevator, and gender neutral + accessible washrooms.

ASL Interpreters will be available on site.

Hearing artists / The open house on September 15 is not open for general attendance from hearing artists. The Music Gallery will host separate workshops in the 2026-27 season where hearing artists will be invited to try out the haptic gear.
