X Avant: 918 Bathurst Accessibility Update

October 15, 2024

News

To our MG community,

We’re excited to welcome you back to 918 Bathurst for another season of X Avant! As we prepare for our festival, we want to share some important updates that may affect nights 2, 3, and 5.

The demolition of 914 Bathurst (the building next door to our home venue, 918 Bathurst) is now underway. While this will contribute to noise, vibrations, and potential debris around our venue during the day, we’ve been assured that daily demolition activity will wrap up by 5 pm allowing all our festival events at 918 to proceed as planned.

We expect that parking and sidewalk access along Bathurst may be impacted, and we will provide relevant updates through event pages on our site, and Instagram.

We’re communicating with festival artists and staff to ensure that daytime rehearsals and workshops are minimally impacted. We are also closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with our friends at 918 Bathurst, as well as city staff, and a local neighbourhood committee to keep you informed about any developments.

For those who have been with the Music Gallery for several years, you may remember that condo development triggered our departure from previous home venues. We want to reassure you that venue research and wider venue partnerships were factored into our new strategic plan in anticipation of the potential impacts of the condo development at 914 Bathurst. We are working to maintain our relationship with 918, while also building contingencies through offsite programming.

If you have questions regarding the construction project at 914 please contact matthew@musicgallery.org.

We can’t wait to see you at X Avant, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these changes together.
