What Sovereignty Sounds Like transcript

Published on: June 4, 2017

On April 25, the MG and Revolutions Per Minute presented What Sovereignty Sounds Like: a forum for Tkaronto’s Indigenous musical artists to share their perspective on the sounds of sovereignty and emerging musical communities in Canada’s cultural capital.

This conversation, moderated by classically trained Wolastoq First Nation vocal artist Jeremy Dutcher, was a wide-ranging yet directed session spanning several themes and drawing on a wide array of musical and generational experience in the room. Lasting more than two hours (including a set by Ziibiwan) this is a very long read but it’s packed with insight.

Thanks to Kristine McCorkell for the transcript! Read it here.
