ARRAYMUSIC: CURRENT CLASSICS CONCERT
Curated by Linda Catlin Smith • Co-presented with Arraymusic
Doors 7pm, concert 8pm
$20 regular, $15 member
Arraymusic invited composer Linda Catlin Smith to compose a new work for their ensemble, and to curate the concert for that work. Specifically she was asked to dig into Arraymusic’s extensive Library of Scores, and create a program from works in repertoire. Linda is very familiar with Array, having been a past Artistic Director (1988-1993) and a co-creator of Arraymusic’s Young Composers’ Workshop. This concert will feature works by two of Linda’s teachers: Canadian composer Rudolf Komorous (the brief but haunting Sweet Queen), and Japan’s Jo Kondo (his seminal work Standing) alongside works she also discovered in the library: Scott Godin’s work Soccer, Gerald Barry’s piano solo Sur les points and Italian composer Aldo Clementi’s Madrigale. These works will create the context for her brand new work for the ensemble.
